Paradise Regained...
He came, he saw, he conquered, and then he was thrown over-board
by his own doings, in turn his fate. But he recovered to return,
though it took quite some time. Sanjay Dutt, the drug enchanted
and abused kid of cinema 'deus' has been able to give back his fans,
what they believed in - his fortitude and perseverance.
Ever since he set foot in the film industry, he has hardly been
able to keep out of the limelight. But for all the wrong reasons.
And yet against all odds, Sanjay Dutt fought the vicissitudes of
life and reached the peak of his career. Marriage to Rhea Pillai
provided him the much longed for stability in his life.
Sanjay accepts unabashed that his life, personal and professional,
has been a roller-coaster ride throughout. Initially his drug problem
never allowed him to give a total dedication to his films, fortunately
he always had an understanding film fraternity around. He even admits
the situation was so bad at the time the he never read the scripts
properly. But the Industry has been really forgiving for him. All
of them rallied around him in time of distress. "If it weren't
for their best wishes I would have been history by now. A thing
of the past, best forgotten."
"I still can't get over that phase of my life. I think that
is one nightmare I will have to live with the rest of my life. However
I prefer not to dwell in the past. It is all so morbid and scary."
Sanjay lived his life dangerously and life in turn punished him
severely. "However today I have come out stronger and wiser.
Believe me I never expected to lead a peaceful and normal life ever
again. But God's mercy was always on me. He pulled me out of the
horrible ordeal. It is all over now."
Vaastav' proved to be a lifeline for him. His fans accepted him
again and he did his family proud. He has some brilliant roles in
the offing, and he wants to do only the films that add meaning to
his life and career and in his own words,"bring honour to my
family, the industry and the country."
He also feels that the greatest and only regret in his life is
that his mother did not live to see him enjoy success. "I have
given her enough reasons to worry till the end. She would have been
proud of me today."
Sanjay Dutt has decided to launch his own Production House 'White
Feather', to encourage new talent and make a statement in cinema.
" I have decided to make up for the lost time. All my time
from now on is for my family and films. My bitter experiences
in life have helped me put my priorities in the right order."
